The Epic Harp Migration of Christmas '13

I just finished moving two harps for my first (and so far, only) holiday gig, and let me tell you, that was no joke. Mannes will move harps for the college division orchestra, but apparently not for the extension division, so that became my happy task. It took me four+ hours - two hours there, and at least two hours back - for a concert that was no more than an hour and a half long.

Don’t get me wrong, it was a fun concert. I played the Waltz of the Flowers and we sang nondenominational winter carols. And I had a much more pleasant experience than the first time I drove a harp downtown (I listened to music, talked to another harpist, and no one leaned out of their cars to scream misogynist slurs at me). But still. Four hours. Driving up and down Manhattan.

Being a harpist is sometimes silly.

I will now reward myself with foods that are orange. Orange juice, macaroni and cheese, and pumpkin ice cream.
